Proud to Be An American

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Fourth of July. We, like many, had a cook-out and topped off a great meal with watermelon. During the afternoon, we did get the opportunity to go to an “autograph-signing session” by Robert G. Heft, the designer of the current 50-star American flag. What a kind and interesting guy! There is a story behind how this all developed that has a little twist to it. Read about it at:

We ended our Independence Day by watching a variety of firework displays. All were spectacular! So many colors and designs… a smiley face, bow-tie, rubik’s cube, and waterfalls lit up the night skies. The patriotic music, performed by the Boston Pops, other well-known individuals and groups throughout the day, added to the American spirit and the celebrations across the country. It is almost 2:30 a.m. and I have to say the televised Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular hosted by Craig Ferguson has been outstanding. Perhaps the best I have seen! Absolutely amazing!

Happy Birthday America!
