Blogging Vulgarity

speak_no_evil.jpg I was checking out a blog this morning that was tasteless, rude & vulgar. I promise I didn’t know it was that way until AFTER I started reading it. I have been told that the lady who writes the posts for this blog makes over $80K per year from her writings. There are many advertisements on her blog and I wonder why any company would want to advertise there with all that vulgarity she uses! Go figure -  I guess it shows the online society’s desire for this sort of junk.

Since it is open to the public for viewing/reading, I am strongly opposed to this type of garbage. I will stay poor, broke and hungry (well, poor and broke anyway) if smut is what it takes to make a dollar online. Children’s eyes should not be subjected to these sorts of things. She is not the only one, of course. I believe in freedom of speech, but moreso in maintaining decency for others.

I won’t give the name of the blog, because I don’t want to be free advertisement for her. It shudders me to think that society thinks they need stuff like this, and, even more, that there are people who have such disrespect for themselves that they will share their vulgarity with the world for a few bucks!

How do you feel about the indecency on the internet?  ~Howdy

  1. Well, here is a question for you… how do you define indecency on the internet or vulgarity?

I understand that this can have a different meaning from person to person, but is there any one specific definition that you are talking about?

I believe I know what person you are taking about, and we need to just recognize her comments for what they are but we should allow her to make them (tho we may not like them).

  2. Thank you for your comment. If people want to cuss and curse in their own homes, that is up to them. They are only subjecting themselves to it (hopefully they don’t have children around to hear it). I feel that indecency on the internet is the same as it would be if we were on a public street somewhere. Children will say what they hear not even knowing it is disrespectful to say it. By the time they become adults, however, they should know the difference between right and wrong. I don’t enjoy hearing it (just the way I was raised) and I feel some things should just be kept inside the head and not be said out loud if by chance it may be heard or seen by others who might be offended.
An opinion does not offend me. Your words were not disrespectful. I appreciate the way you made your point. I respect the opinion of people who show respect for others, even though I may sometimes disagree with it.
I cannot keep her, or anyone else, from using that kind of language. But I do feel she should think about others, also. Apparently, more people feel as you do about the subject or I would be making the ‘big bucks’ too. Thank God we are all entitled to our own opinions. Thanks for giving me yours. ~Howdy
